In the PPNB site of Yiftah'el the marine shells resemble the assemblages of other PPNB sites : There is a dominance of Mediterranean bivalves, a few cowries and two specimens from the Red Sea. Most freshwater shells were probably brought in with the clay which was used for producing mudbricks, whilst landsnails invaded the site after its desertion.
