A surface scatter of Lower Paleolithic bifaces and cores was discovered in a small wadi, the Wadi Uweinid, in eastern Jordan in the vicinity of the Pleistocene Lake Azraq. Features of lithic technology and metric comparisons indicate that the material derives from the Middle Acheulian, which greatly extends the known history of hominid occupation in this part of the Near East.Des bifaces et des nucleus du Paléolithique inférieur ont été découverts en surface dans l'ouadi Uweinid en Jordanie orientale non loin du lac pléistocène d'Azraq.
