Summary : Spatial coding in reading Our aim in this article is to present a spatial coding hypothesis in reading process. This hypothesis claims that the reader records the position of some words in the text in order to retrieve them quickly when a complex linguistic process is required. We discuss several experimental results supporting this hypothesis corresponding to spatial coding at word, sentence or text level.
