Capacité d'appréhension, niveau d'attention et blocage du rythme alpha

This experiment aims at finding ihe relation between the apprehension field, measured during a tachistoscope test, the level of attention such as the subject may estimate it, and the presence or absence of the a rhythm when a stimulus is given. 8-letter fields were presented by tachistoscope, whilst the EEG was recorded. The subject had to say all the letters he saw and estimate his degree of attention at the time of stimulation, by a seule divided up into three levels. Correlations were worked out between the three variables : — between the a activity level and the estimated degree of attention, the low average correlation of .23 is nevertheless statistically significant ; — between the degree of attention and the number of letters pereewed, there is an average correlation, always positive, of .48 ; -the number of letters perceived on the average slightly increases as the amplitude of diminishes but the correlation is almost nil and not significant. The conclusion is drawn that certain feeling of attention does certainly correspond to the blocking of the rhythm, but the efficiency level does not depend upon this blocking process.Résumé L'objet de cette expérience était de rechercher la relation entre le champ d'appréhension, mesuré au cours d'une épreuve tachistos-copique, le niveau d'attention tel que peut l'estimer le sujet, et la présence ou l'absence du rythme a au moment de la stimulation. Des champs de 8 lettres étaient présentés au tachistoscope, pendant qu'on enregistrait l'EEG. Le sujet devait signaler toutes les lettres perçues et estimer son niveau d'attention au moment de la stimulation, au moyen d'une échelle à 3 degrés. Les corrélations ont été calculées entre les trois variables : — entre niveau d'activité a et niveau d'attention estimé, la corrélation faible de .23 en moyenne est cependant statistiquement significative. — entre niveau d'attention et nombre de lettres perçues la corrélation, toujours positive, est en moyenne de .48. — Le nombre de lettres perçues augmente légèrement en moyenne quand l'amplitude de l'a se réduit mais la corrélation est à peu près nulle et non significative. Nous concluons qu'au blocage du rythme a correspondrait bien un certain sentiment d'attention, mais de ce blocage ne dépendrait pas le niveau d'efficience.Fraisse P, Voillaume C.
