Toward a definition of inspiration : a critical assessment of selected attempts

The purpose of this study is to examine carefully a number of definitions of inspiration and to demonstrate possible ambiguities, weaknesses, and matters inconsistent with the understanding of the doctrine among Evangelicals. Then, a definition will be suggested not as the final solution, but hopefully as an advancement on the way toward greater clarity and precision. There is no desire to aim heavy academic artillery at Evangelical writers but rather to suggest that some in-house tidying-up is in order
