A speech feature extraction circuit that is simple and suitable for chip technology is designed. It consists of a filter bank, rectifying circuit, and low pass filters. Meanwhile, an idea of the device characteristics efficient for designing circuits is illustrated with this circuit. The idea takes implementation of the functions rather than the algorithms as the purpose. Although the mathematical models are complicated, the circuits designed according to this idea are simple, suitable for chip implementation, and more efficient for the limited resources on chip. The results show that the circuit can obtain the features similar to the linear system through the SPICE simulation for practical speech signals.EI0SUPPL.374-3772
