Synthesis of core/shell structural CdS/ZnO nanoparticles by hydrothermal method

CdS and ZnO-capped CdS semiconductor nanoparticles were synthesized via hydrothermal method by thermal decomposition of the cysteine-cadmium complex precursor. The results of XPS suggested that CdS and ZnO was formed. Compared to CdS nanoparticles, the band-gap emission of CdS/ZnO was greatly improved, which means the shell of ZnO modified the surface of CdS core and reduced the surface defect.
