A multi link converging combined input-crosspoint-output-queued (CICOQ) switch is proposed based on this idea. It is proved that a multi link converging CICOQ switch working at the link rate can emulate an output queued switch by a distributed scheduling algorithm when the number of the links is equal to two. And more links will enable the switch unit of the multi link converging CICOQ switch working at a lower speed. This virtue makes the multi link converging CICOQ switch more appealing while working under a higher speed network in the future, hence is more scalable.
