This paper aims to explore the basic theories about the construction of eco-cultural scenes under the scenic park mnagement system. Field research is adopted dealing with an on-the-spot investigation on the eco-cultural preservation of the two county-based places: Fengcheng Town and Zhongting Village in Jinya Township. It reveals that the eco-cultural scenes in a modern scenic park system may be affected by five sets of variants: (1) subject variants: primary subject and additional subject; (2) morphological variants: landscape and taskscape; (3) ideological variants: welfare-first value and profit-first value; (4) spatial variants: life space and theater space; (5) temporal variants: real-life liminality and quasi-liminality.
