The Coal-fired power industry accounts for more than 80% of total power generating capacity in China. However, the coal-fired power stations produce approximately 10% of the global total carbon dioxide emissions. This paper uses Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method to calculate carbon emissions of a typical coal-fired power station in China. The result shows that carbon emission per Kilowatt-Hour (kWh) of the power plant is 1.018 kilogram. Besides, it is assumed that carbon tax will be imposed on power plants in China in the future. Supposing carbon tax rate is 20 similar to 200 Yuan/ton, the cost of power plant will increase 0.0204 similar to 0.2036 Yuan/kWh.
