A century of German literature reception in China

The article presents a general view on the reception of German literature from the very beginning of the introduction of the German language into China up to the end of the twentieth century. In other words, it covers the whole of the twentieth century, in several phases with different special features. Since Chinese history in the twentieth century was full of great events, it had important influences upon the social life and development of Chinese society. It also affected the translation and the introduction of German literature in China. The Literaturstrasse, the first Yearbook of German Studies in China in the German language, which was first published in 2000, has given convincing proof of the optimistic future of German Studies in China.Language & LinguisticsLiteratureA&HCI0ARTICLE12778-963
