Small-interfering RNA (siRNA) technology is a new approach for blocking the production of a protein by specific degradation of the messenger RNA that encodes the protein. The high potency of siRNA and the relative ease of application have led to broad implementation of the method in many aspects of the life science research. The combination of the developments in its application and in siRNA libraries to cover whole genomes has further enabled genome-wide high-throughput functional screening.Pharmacology & PharmacySCI(E)3ARTICLE11924-926
