The sharpshooter Homalodisca coagulata (Say) (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Cicadellinae) is an exotic vector of the Pierce's disease (PD) bacterium, Xylella fastidiosa (Wells et al.), that was first observed in California in 1989.
