Synthesis of novel derivatives of (R)-cysteine and their application in asymmetric reduction of prochiral ketones

Novel chiral beta-amino alcohols containing sulfide or sulfonyl groups were synthesized from (R)-cysteine. Their chiral induction in the asymmetric borane reduction of prochiral ketones was investigated.
