The present study is an investigation of thermal expansion of magnesium aluminum oxynitride ((Mg0.1Al1.6O2.2N0.2) with the objective of determining its unit-cell dimensions from 298 K to 1473 K. High-temperature powder X-ray diffractometry (HTXRD) technique was adopted under an argon atmosphere. The experimental data obtained were used to calculate the lattice parameters and cell volumes. In the temperature ranges, the calculated linear and volume expansion coefficients are 5.3152 similar to 5.2813 x 10(-6) K-1 and 15.9735 similar to 15.6778 x 10(-6) K-1, respectively.
