During environment testing, it is always assumed that the random vibration simulated follows normal distribution. But during the whole life period of products, some dynamic environments are characterized by high kurtosis of non-normal, and the traditional digital random vibration control system can only supply the random vibration excitation signal of normal. In this paper, the omni-shaker which often used in reliability enhancement test is discussed, and its limitations were outlined. The paper also presents a shaker test technique allowing to produce non-normal random vibration with specified Power Spectrum Density (PSD), skewness and kurtosis on traditional electrodynamic shaker.http://gateway.webofknowledge.com/gateway/Gateway.cgi?GWVer...
