Based on the GSM radio architecture, general packet radio service (GPRS) can provide users data connections with variable data rates and high bandwidth efficiency in the GSM network. How to allocate the GPRS channels in considering voice channels is very important to make good use of the limited radio resource. In this paper, we provide three schemes for the GPRS radio resource allocation: HRRAnoDC (Hybrid Radio Resource Allocation algorithm without Dedicated Channel for GPRS) and HRRA/DC (HHRA with Dedicated Channel for GPRS), and SRRA/DC (Separated Radio Resource Allocation algorithm with Dedicated Channel for GPRS).
