The measurements of the optical absorption in Cd1-xFexTe for x = 0.03, 0.06 by transmission spectroscopy have been carried out and the magnetization measurements in the temperature range 1.5 K to 30 K and magnetic fields up to 7T have been made by using the extraction method. It is shown that the band gap shifts towards the low energy side with the increase of x. Based on the mean field theory, a modified Brillouin function fits with the data very well. It is shown that there is an antiferromagnetic exchange coupling among Fe ions.EI05-6419-424
