The metallurgical process of the fillets formed during aluminum brazing is discussed. The dissolution of the base-metal in the liquid fillet metal first begins at the crystal boundaries. Owing to the homogenization of the liquid phase, Si permeates into the boundaries. Meanwhile, Si in the liquid diffuses into Al granules, thus forming the alpha -phase.EI03b. 174-b. 1762
