Eye detection has a significant influence on human-machine interfaces. In this paper, we propose a novel highly-effective eye detection method that is based on the red-eye effect and Affine-SIFT (ASIFT) algorithms. The proposed method includes the optical design for the device and the algorithm design. The optical design uses a beam splitter and filters to attain more advantageous images for eye detection. The algorithm design involves processing the images locally to the eyes. The combination of this device and algorithm permits the accurate detection of eye location.
