In the mobile systems, the frequency selective fading channel impairs the CDMA signals by the MAI resulting from the non-zero cross-correlations among the relative delayed signals. This interference increases with the number of the active channels, i.e. the number of the codes, and limits the capacity strongly. To address this problem the channel hopping technique is developed, which can transmit more information bits for a given number of the codes. Alternatively, for a given value of throughput, the proposed technique can reduce effectively the number of the codes and, therefore, increase the capacity by reducing the MAI.
