Peroxidase-catalyzed fluorimetric method for the determination of hydrogen peroxide is one of the routine enzymetic methods of analysis in clinical diagnosis and biochemical research. The measurement is based on the formation of a fluorescent compound from nonfluorescent substrate and hydrogen peroxide by the reaction of peroxidase (POD), or the transformation of a fluorescent substrate into a nonfluorescent compound when it reacts with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of POD. This article proposes a new substrate, chavicol (CV), and studies in detail the catalytic fluorescence reaction of CV-H2O2-horse-radish peroxidase (HRP) system, and advances a new point of view on substrate structure.SCI(E)EI0171449-14533
