The atomic structure of the Si(111) 7??7 surface was investigated using the improved kinematic low energy electron diffraction approach in conjunction with the constant momentum transfer averaging technique (KLEED/CMTA). After optimizing DAS (dimer adatom stacking-fault) and DACS (dimer adatom-cluster stacking-fault) models, the authors got the optimum DAS model which produces calculated spectra in remarkably good agreement with the experimental curves. All the structural parameters of the model were given.EI02118-1221
