Luminescence intensity of barium chloride phosphors can be improved by surface treatment. A thin film (40-60) nm) of transparent silicon dioxide was coated on the surface of phosphors particles by the hydrolysis of tetraethyl silicate. That would effectively facilitate the substrate to absorb the optical excitation energy and change the chemical environment around luminescent centers. The luminescent properties of phosphors were markedly influenced and luminescence intensity was also increased 14%-19%.EI06500-5032
