A new configuration of erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA), i.e. pumping reflection type EDFA, was proposed. The theoretical calculation shows that this type EDFA has high pumping efficiency and low pumping threshold, and its 3dB saturated output power is high. The pumping efficiency of this reflection type EDFA is two times of the conventional type with same fiber length. Owing to the Bragg grating is used as the reflector, the pumping reflection type EDFA is easy achieved in technology.EI01174-762
