Different kinds of RF plasma such as oxygen plasma, CF4 plasma and CH4/CF4 plasma were used to modify PET surfaces. The influence of physical parameters of RF plasma discharge on PET surface modification was investigated, including discharge time, discharge power, electrode separation and the adsorption energy of single molecule per unit mass. The results show that CH4/CF4 plasma results in formation and growth of polymerized layers on the surface. While oxygen plasma and CF4 plasma etch the surface. The increase of discharge time and discharge power would enhance the polymerization and/or surface etching while the increase of electrode separation and such absorption energy would reduce the polymerization and/or surface etching.EI05373-3761
