In this paper, a simple finite-element solution is introduced for directly calculating phase constants of waveguides loaded with ferrite magnetized in an arbitrary direction. The spurious-mode interference has been eliminated by using the edge elements. In order to solve the quadratic eigenvalue equation, which appears in the case where the magnetized direction is not parallel to the propagation, a simple and effective iteration approach is proposed with no increase in the number of degrees of freedom. Calculated results for two structures are in good agreement with the analytical solution and calculated data by other methods, which proves the accuracy and efficiency of the formulations and approach of this paper.EI04414-420
