The superdeformed (SD) rotational bands in the Hg and Pb isotopes are analyzed by means of the abc expression for rotational band: E(gamma)(I) = a[1 + cI(I + 1)] [square-root 1 + bI(I + 1) - 1], which was derived from the Bohr Hamiltonian. The agreement between the calculated and observed transition energies is remarkably good. The deviation of the calculated E s from the observed ones turns out to be \delta\ less-than-or-equal-to 0.5 keV (except for a few cases, 0.5 keV less-than-or-equal-to \delta\ less-than-or-equal-to 0.7 keV). Some transitions which have not been observed yet in these SD bands are predicted, which may be useful for experimental investigations.Physics, NuclearPhysics, Particles & FieldsSCI(E)0ARTICLE2161-1691
