Abstract

The influence of the Delta I = 1 staggering and the fluctuation in observed gamma-transtion energies on the spin assignments of superdeformed bands is taken into account properly. An improved approach for removing the fluctuations from the observed gamma transition energies is proposed. The smoothed transition energies are fitted by the ab expression or its modification to assign the spins of the superdeformed bands in the odd-A nuclei in A approximate to 190 region.
