A report is presented on the modelling and verification of microneedle-skin interactions. A nonlinear finite element model based on the micro biomechanical properties of skin was established to simulate a microneedle being inserted into the skin. The deformation of skin and the force-displacement behaviour of the microneedle could be obtained. The accuracy was experimentally verified by measuring the relationship between force and displacements during insertion into mouse skin.
