Data rate fairness issues in a two-way decode-and-forward relay system are investigated. A fairness-aware power allocation (FPA) scheme is studied to maximise the achievable sum data rate under a total power constraint as well as a data rate fairness constraint. It is shown that the data rate fairness can be achieved between the two source nodes with balanced data rates in both multiple access and broadcast phases.
