Three new Mn(II)-azido polymeric complexes [MnL1(N-3)(2)center dot CH3OH](n) (1) (L-1 = 1-(2-pyridyl)-l-amino-4-(6-bromo-2-pyridyl)-2,3-diaza-1,3-butadiene), [MnL2 (N-3)(2)](n) (2a) and [Mn-2(L-2)(2)(N-3)(4)](n) (2b) (L-2 = 1-(2-pyridyl)-l-amino-4-benzyl-2,3-diaza-1,3-butadiene) have been synthesized and crystallographically characterized, and their magnetic properties are studied. Complexes I and 2b show similar one-dimensional (ID) coordination polymeric structure, in which Mn(II) ions are alternately bridged by two end-to-end (EE) and two end-on (EO) azido ligands, resulting in zigzag Mn(II)-azido chains.
