Integrin alpha(v)beta(3) plays a critical role in tumor angiogenesis and metastasis. Radiolabeled RGD peptides that are integrin alpha(v)beta(3)-specific are very useful for noninvasive imaging of integrin expression in rapidly growing and metastatic tumors.
