High thermal stability and antiferromagnetic properties of a 3D Mn(II)-organic framework with metal carboxylate chains

A novel three-dimensional metal-organic framework, [Mn(2)(hfipbb)(2)(bpy)](n) (1) (H(2)hfipbb = 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)bis(benzoic acid), bpy = 4,4'-bipyridine), has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. The complex consists of metal carboxylate chains, which are cross-linked to six adjacent chains through organic moieties forming extended three-dimensional networks. Complex 1 exhibits high thermal stability (450 degrees C) and antiferromagnetic properties.
