A new triterpenoid saponin, julibroside J(28) (1), was isolated from the stem bark of Albizia julibrissin Durazz (Legurilinosae) by using chromatographic method. The structure of 1 was established by spectroscopic methods. I displayed significant antitumor activity in vitro against PC-3M-1E8, Bel-7402, and HeLa cancer cell lines at 10 mu M assayed by SRB method. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd.
