The Abelson (ABL) gene was the best control gene for quantitative PCR (qPCR)-based diagnosis and minimal residual disease detection in leukemic patients. However, there is still no concerted effort focused on the optimization of control genes in multiple myeloma (MM). The results of this study will provide a basis for the use of ABL as a control gene for the quantification of aberrantly expressed genes in MM.
