A new family of enantiopure star-shaped Fe-4(III) single-molecule magnets (SMMs) with the general formula [Fe-4(L-K)(6)] (H2L = (R or S)-2-((2-hydroxy-1-phenylethylimino methyl)phenol); K = H (1), Cl (2), Br (3), I (4), and t-Bu (5)), were structurally and magnetically characterized. Complex 1 was reported in our previous paper (Chem. Commun., 2011, 47, 8049-8051). Detailed magnetic measurements and a systematic magneto-structural correlation study revealed that the SMM properties of this series of compounds can be finely tuned by the remote substituent of the ligands.
