The new measurement of fractal dimension using the box-counting method has been proposed in this paper. When we measure the fractal dimension of a well log as porous medium by box countiny, it is found that using the conventional treatment couldn't get a reliable fractal dimension of those date. The upper enveloping curve method to measure the fractal dimension has been established.EI0222-27
