This study deal with a new approach for the definition and prediction of the thermal state of internal combustion engine elements. In this paper, it is well elaborated for diesel engine cylinder liner. The scientific innovation of the new methodology consists in the use of data from external heat balance to determine the thermal state, without carrying out complex and expensive experiments. It takes into account the different heat transfer components: from gas and heat transfer due to friction of piston rings and skirt. In short, the identification of all the components of the heat flux through cylinder liner wall of one diesel will allow to determine the thermal state for others diesel engine.
