CARNAVAIS CARIOCA UNDER THE OPTICS OF THE MAGAZINE THE CRUISE (1943-1945)

This paper has the purpose to discuss the carnivals occurred at Rio de Janeiro during the Brazil´s participation in the World War II. The period, surrounded by a belic atmosphere, denoted other priorities in the carioca habits, making the festivities almost disappear. This scenario, of almost festive inertia, was described by O Cruzeiro, a magazine printed in national scale, which asked at their pages about the viability of realization of these carnivals in times of war. This period marks yet, changes related by the locals and actors of these folguedos which, although in a conflict time, insisted to play the days of Momo, creating a new festive dynamic in these war´s carnivals
