Biodiversity is integrated into forest policy by conducting formal environmental assessments of forest framework plans. These assessments deal with the implications these plans have for the various environmental compartments. In the case of Natura 2000 sites, they are supplemented by a survey of the potential impact those plans have on the habitats and species that provided the justification for being designated a Natura 2000 site.
