Women constitute the majority of humanity, being about 56% of the total of the 6 billion on earth. The problem of unequal access to social benefits by women received global attention when the United Nations declared the period 1975-1985 as the decade for women. There was also a special conference on women held in Beijing, China in 1995 to access improvement on the life of women.
