This paper presents a laboratory study of the influence of a preloading on the soil liquefaction. Prior to test liquefaction, samples are subjected to a drained loading with different amplitudes. Results show that the liquefaction resistance highly depends on the preloading amplitude: it increases with a preloading in the contracancy phase, but it decreases when the preloading is in the dilatancy phase
