In early manuscripts, paratexts always shape up the understanding and interpretation of the literary text: in lyric anthologies and other miscellaneous codices, such informative value is even more important, and holds a particular significance in the context of the readership to whom the manuscript was addressed: the selection criteria of included works, their canon and sequence, the presence of glosses or marginalia were factors that greatly influenced the reading of each author and text.
