Electrochemistry at the nanoscale is a fascinating research discipline, as it is of great importance for industrial applications and furthermore offers new insight into physical and chemical phenomena at a very fundamental level. Silver nanoparticles for example are widely used as anti microbial coating. The unique properties of metal nanoparticles, like a high surface charge and fastmass transport, allows to use them for biosensing applications. The presented work investigates the suitability microelectrodes for amperometric particle detection. By the use of an array of microelectrodes, the detection limit could be improved by an order of magnitude in comparison to single microelectrode sensors.
