Les pierres dressées de Corse : témoins privilégiés de l’évolution culturelle des sociétés préhistoriques et protohistoriques dans l’espace et le temps

International audienceDuring the past century, the phenomenon of Corsican standing stones has been the subject of numerous studies andhas produced many results. It was primarily the operations led by Roger Grosjean that made possible the first proposedchronological attributions for the megalithic monuments and the initial hypothesis for the chrono-cultural development ofprehistoric and protohistoric settlements on the island. In the last two decades, this knowledge has been amply clarifiedthrough several fieldwork projects, including those of André D’Anna, Pascal Tramoni and Franck Leandri and ChristopheGilabert. The absolute dating of several phases of this phenomenon, especially at i Stantari and Renaghju on the Cauriaplateau, has allowed the proposal of new local chrono-cultural sequences for the megalithism of the island. The periodiclinking of the development of Corsican megalithism with the cultural evolution of human settlements has led to newhypotheses regarding the links between technical and cultural changes in prehistoric and protohistoric societies and theroles and meanings of standing stones. While the number of monuments dated in absolute chronology is limited and is notyet geographically representative, the data now acquired by archaeological research are sufficient to propose a chronoculturalparadigm on the scale of the whole island. Insular territorial aspects of standing stone monuments have beenanalysed in relation to data from other site types (settlements, burials).Au cours du siècle passé, le phénomène des pierres dressées de la Corse a été le sujet de travaux qui portèrent denombreux résultats. Ce sont majoritairement les opérations menées par Roger Grosjean qui permirent de proposer lespremières attributions chronologiques des monuments mégalithiques et les premières hypothèses d’évolution chronoculturelledu peuplement préhistorique et protohistorique de l’île. Durant les deux dernières décennies, ces connaissancesont été amplement précisées grâce à plusieurs travaux de terrain, dont ceux d’André D’Anna, de Pascal Tramoni etde Franck Leandri et Christophe Gilabert. La datation absolue de plusieurs phases de ce phénomène, notamment à iStantari et à Renaghju sur le plateau de Cauria, a permis de proposer de nouvelles séquences chrono-culturelles localesdu mégalithisme insulaire. La mise en relation ponctuelle des rythmes évolutifs du mégalithisme corse avec l’évolutionculturelle des peuplements a suscité de nouvelles hypothèses sur les liens qui unissent les changements techniques etculturels des sociétés préhistoriques et protohistoriques et les rôles et significations des monuments de pierres dressées.Bien que le nombre de monuments datés en chronologie absolue reste limité et ne soit pas encore géographiquementreprésentatif, les données aujourd’hui acquises par la recherche archéologique sont cependant suffisantes pour proposerun paradigme chrono-culturel à l’échelle de toute l’île. Les aspects territoriaux insulaires des sites à pierres dressées ontdonc été analysés par rapport aux données concernant les autres types de sites (habitats, sépultures)
