Availability of Mental Healthcare in Kentucky

I intend to conduct a study on the availability of psychological and psychiatric healthcare in the state of Kentucky. I will determine and graphically express the density of entities providing mental health resources for the residents of Kentucky on a county-by-county basis. I will identify trends in the changing availability of such resources and comment on possible causes thereof. I will also highlight the prevalence of mental illness in the state of Kentucky and analyze the ratio of affected persons to available care providers, thereby assessing the readiness of the state to handle the burden imposed by mental illness. In addition, to better understand the ability of sub-groups/minorities of the population to access psychological care, I will analyze the frequency with which several distinct demographics utilize professional resources for the treatment of mental illness. I will also compare the statistics and resources of Kentucky with those of other states. By this approach, I hope to compile a holistic profile of the present climate of mental healthcare in Kentucky
