I intend to conduct a study on the availability of psychological and psychiatric healthcare in the state of Kentucky. I will determine and graphically express the density of entities providing mental health resources for the residents of Kentucky on a county-by-county basis. I will identify trends in the changing availability of such resources and comment on possible causes thereof. I will also highlight the prevalence of mental illness in the state of Kentucky and analyze the ratio of affected persons to available care providers, thereby assessing the readiness of the state to handle the burden imposed by mental illness.
