The aim of this work is to compare processes of emulsion and miniemulsion polymerization. The influence of the combination of molecular and macromolecular stabilizers on the reaction kinetics and particle size distribution are relevant factors in our study. A stabilizer polymer, poly (vinyl alcohol-co-vinyl acetate) (PVA), was synthesized with different degrees of hydrolysis by a direct saponification of polyvinyl acetate. The degree of hydrolysis of this copolymer was characterized by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H NMR).
