Each year in France, the treatment of liquid waste coming from surface finishing industry generates about 200.000 tons of metallic hydroxide sludge. According to the law 92-646 of 13/07/1992 concerning ultimate waste, these sludge could not be stored in specialized landfill. The purpose of this work is to propose an alternative solution to avoid global precipitation of metals using sodium carboxylates. These reagents allow to perform selective precipitation with a goal of recycling. At first, preparation and control of carboxylate solutions were studied.
