Micromixing, or mixing at the molecular scale, has a decisive influence on product quality, selectivity and yield of industrially important reactions such as polymerization reactions. Currently, the existing chemical systems are well suited to the study of micromixing of low viscosity products, but no reliable characterization method exists for highly viscous media. As a part of the ANR project PROCIP, the study consisted in developing a new method to quantify the efficiency of micromixing in viscous media in stirred reactors.
